Overview

Top Team is a 2D online multiplayer arena shooter built in Unity 6 for Android, and it is designed around a specific claim: that coordination should beat individual mechanical skill. Plenty of team shooters say this and then ship maps and weapons that reward the fastest reflexes regardless. Top Team pushes the other way by making positioning, map control and communication the things that decide close matches.

Matches run across multiple hand-built maps set in different biomes, each with its own layout and environmental constraints, so the same tactic does not carry from one arena to the next. Three modes cover different appetites: Team Deathmatch for straight team fights, Free For All for a points-based contest over strategic locations, and Training for learning movement and aim without the pressure of a live match.

Around the core loop sits the progression players actually engage with — customisable weapons to suit a playstyle, a wide range of character costumes, and global leaderboards for tracking performance against the wider player base. Built-in voice and text chat exist because the game's central design bet does not work without them. The game is free, runs about 99 MB, and has an active Discord community where matches get organised and feedback reaches the studio directly.

How It Plays

1

Pick a mode and squad up

Team Deathmatch pits two teams against each other for the highest kill count before the timer expires. Free For All shifts the objective to capturing and holding strategic locations, where the more ground you control the faster your score climbs. Training is a controlled environment for practising movement and aim before committing to a live match.

2

Communicate or lose

Voice and text chat are built in rather than bolted on, because the mode design assumes teams are talking. A squad calling rotations will consistently beat a squad of individually better players who are not, which is the intended outcome and the reason the chat tooling is treated as core rather than optional.

3

Learn the maps

Each map sits in a different biome with a distinct layout and its own environmental challenges. Knowing the sightlines and choke points of a specific arena is worth more than raw aim, so map familiarity is the main thing separating new players from established ones — and the reason Training exists.

4

Customise and climb

Weapons are customisable to match how you actually play rather than funnelling everyone toward one optimal loadout, and characters carry a wide range of costumes. Global leaderboards track performance over time, giving the competitive players something to chase beyond the individual match.

Who It Is For

Competitive squad play

Groups who want a team shooter where coordination is genuinely the deciding factor, with voice chat and objective modes built around organised play rather than solo carries.

Quick mobile sessions

Round-based matches that fit into short windows, on Android, at a 99 MB download that does not demand a flagship phone or a long install before the first game.

Players new to the genre

Training mode offers a low-pressure way to learn movement and aim, which matters in a genre where the usual onboarding is being repeatedly beaten by people who have played for a year.

What to Decide Early

It is a team game first

If you mostly play solo with chat muted, you are opting out of the mechanic the whole design is built on and the experience will feel worse than the genre average rather than better. Free For All is the mode that works best without coordination. Worth knowing before judging the game on a single silent match.

Android only at present

The current release targets Android. There is no iOS or PC build today, so a group planning to play together needs everyone on an Android device. This is a real constraint for mixed-platform friend groups and is better known up front than discovered at the point of organising a session.

Connection quality matters more than device power

At 99 MB and built in Unity 6 for mobile, the game runs on modest hardware without difficulty. What actually degrades the experience is an unstable connection, because real-time team play is unforgiving of latency spikes in a way that single-player games are not. A mid-range phone on good wifi beats a flagship on poor mobile data.
