million
Wall-clock time per request, including time spent waiting on databases and APIs. Lambda, Cloud Run and Azure Functions bill this time.
ms
Memory given to each function. Lambda bills it exactly, Google Cloud adds CPU in proportion, and Azure's Consumption plan rounds up to 128 MB steps (up to 1.5 GB). Cloudflare Workers get 128 MB.

Only Cloudflare Workers bill CPU time rather than duration. An API that mostly waits on a database might use 5–20 ms of CPU even if it takes 200 ms.

What are the key differences between AWS Lambda and Cloudflare Workers?

  • What you pay for. Lambda charges for the whole duration × memory, per millisecond. Workers charge only for CPU time: time waiting on databases and APIs is free.
  • Minimum. Lambda has no monthly fee and a free tier of 1 million requests; Workers Paid costs $5 a month and includes 10 million requests.
  • Limits. Lambda allows up to 10,240 MB of memory and 15 minutes; Workers give each isolate 128 MB and up to 5 minutes of CPU.
  • Location. Lambda runs in one AWS region; Workers run in the data center nearest each user, in 335+ cities.

Should you choose AWS Lambda or Cloudflare Workers?

Choose AWS Lambda if

  • your functions need more than 128 MB of memory or long runs
  • your traffic is small enough to stay inside Lambda's free tier
  • your code runs next to other AWS services in one region

Choose Cloudflare Workers if

  • your API mostly waits on databases or other APIs
  • you want low latency for users worldwide
  • you serve a lot of data and want free egress

Where do these prices come from?

Both sides use the provider's own published price list, read on October 14, 2026, for the same region, with the always-free allowances applied.

Prices are in US dollars, on-demand, for Linux, with no commitments. Every figure on this page is generated from the same price snapshot as the calculator, and automated tests check each claim whenever the prices change. A month is 730 hours and 1 TB is 1,024 GB. Providers change prices from time to time, so for a purchase decision confirm the final figure in the provider's console.

Frequently asked questions

It depends on usage. In US East with the always-free allowances applied, a month: 5M requests a month, $5.40 on Workers and $0.80 on Lambda; 50M requests a month, $26.40 on Workers and $86.47 on Lambda; 500M requests a month, $351.40 on Workers and $1,759.80 on Lambda. Cloudflare Workers is cheaper for 50M requests a month in all 12 regions the calculator covers. Your own usage can change the answer, so price it in the calculator on this page.
AWS Lambda runs in one region and bills duration × memory per millisecond, with up to 10 GB of memory and 15-minute runs. Cloudflare Workers run in 335+ cities, bill only CPU time with a $5 monthly plan, and give each isolate 128 MB.
For requests at 200 ms, 512 MB and 10 ms of CPU each, Cloudflare Workers becomes cheaper than AWS Lambda above about 6.8 million requests a month. Below that, AWS Lambda is cheaper, mostly thanks to its free allowance and because Workers Paid has a $5 monthly minimum. The more of each request is spent waiting on I/O, the sooner Workers win, because they bill only CPU time.
At US East list prices: serverless, per million requests, $0.20 on Lambda and $0.30 after 10M included on Workers; serverless compute, $0.0000166667 per GB-s on Lambda and $0.02 per million CPU ms on Workers. For 50M requests a month, that comes to $86.47 a month on Lambda and $26.40 on Workers.
Both sides use official list prices for AWS us-east-1 (N. Virginia) and Cloudflare (one global price), read on October 14, 2026, with the always-free allowances and each provider's own billing rules applied. Functions handle one request per instance at a time, and API gateways in front of them are not included. Taxes, support plans and commitment discounts are not included.
