Wall-clock time per request, including time spent waiting on databases and APIs. Lambda, Cloud Run and Azure Functions bill this time.

Memory given to each function. Lambda bills it exactly, Google Cloud adds CPU in proportion, and Azure's Consumption plan rounds up to 128 MB steps (up to 1.5 GB). Cloudflare Workers get 128 MB.

Azure is cheaper for a mobile app backend in 7 of the 12 regions the calculator covers and Cloudflare in 5. Cloudflare does not rent servers, so these presets use serverless, storage, NoSQL and bandwidth only. On Cloudflare, Workers KV stands in for the NoSQL database, at $5.00 per million writes after 1 million included.

What are the key differences between Azure and Cloudflare?

  • Egress. Azure charges per GB of internet egress after 100 GB a month; Cloudflare charges nothing for data from Workers and R2.
  • CDN. Azure Front Door Standard has a $35 monthly base fee plus per-GB charges; Cloudflare's CDN has a free plan with no bandwidth charges.
  • Compute. Azure Functions run in one region with up to 1.5 GB on the Consumption plan; Workers run in 335+ cities with 128 MB and bill CPU time only.
  • Data. Cosmos DB offers five consistency levels and SQL-like queries; Workers KV is eventually consistent key-value storage.

Should you choose Azure or Cloudflare?

Choose Azure if

  • you need servers, managed PostgreSQL or Microsoft integration
  • your data needs rich queries and tunable consistency (Cosmos DB)
  • your functions need more memory or longer runs

Choose Cloudflare if

  • your app serves a lot of data and bandwidth dominates the bill
  • you want a CDN without a base fee
  • you want global low latency without managing regions

Where do these prices come from?

Both sides use the provider's own published price list, read on October 14, 2026, for the same region, with the always-free allowances applied.

Prices are in US dollars, on-demand, for Linux, with no commitments. Every figure on this page is generated from the same price snapshot as the calculator, and automated tests check each claim whenever the prices change. A month is 730 hours and 1 TB is 1,024 GB. Providers change prices from time to time, so for a purchase decision confirm the final figure in the provider's console.

Frequently asked questions

It depends on usage. In US East with the always-free allowances applied, a month: a static site with an API, $5.15 on Cloudflare and $89.95 on Azure; a mobile app backend, $113.10 on Cloudflare and $103.80 on Azure; a media app, $113.25 on Cloudflare and $1,012.10 on Azure. Azure is cheaper for a mobile app backend in 7 of the 12 regions the calculator covers and Cloudflare in 5. Your own usage can change the answer, so price it in the calculator on this page.
Azure offers VMs, managed databases and a broad catalog billed per region, with paid egress and a $35 monthly base fee for Front Door Standard, while Cloudflare runs Workers in 335+ cities, bills CPU time only and charges no egress or CDN bandwidth fees.
For edge workloads such as APIs, websites and file delivery, it can. Cloudflare has no virtual machines, no managed PostgreSQL and 128 MB of memory per Worker, so apps that need servers, Microsoft integration or large databases stay on Azure, often with Cloudflare in front of them.
For bandwidth, yes. Azure Front Door Standard costs a $35 base fee per profile each month, plus $0.0825 per GB delivered to North America for the first 10 TB and $0.009 per 10,000 requests. Cloudflare's CDN has no bandwidth charges on any plan, including the Free plan; Pro costs $25 a month.
Both sides use official list prices for Azure eastus (East US) and Cloudflare (one global price), read on October 14, 2026, with the always-free allowances and each provider's own billing rules applied. CloudFront is priced pay-as-you-go and Cloudflare on its Free plan. Functions handle one request per instance at a time, and API gateways in front of them are not included. Storage uses each provider's standard hot tier, and downloads are priced as internet egress. NoSQL costs assume 1 KB items, with Cosmos DB writes indexed off. Taxes, support plans and commitment discounts are not included.
