Starts again automatically every time it ends, with a short alarm each round. Great for stretching reminders, rounds or 'every 20 minutes' breaks.

Run several timers at once, each with its own name, length and sound. Ideal for cooking several dishes or timing different stations. They keep running if you reload.

Alarm and display

The alarm is scheduled on your device's audio clock when you press Start, so it rings on time even in a background tab. It keeps ringing until you dismiss it.
Alarm loudness on this device. Your system volume still applies, so turn that up too.

Quick answer

One hour is the classic length for a practice exam, a protected deep-work block or a one-hour parking bay, and about the time bread dough needs for its first rise. Playxoft's free 1 hour timer is preset: press Start or the Space key and it sounds an alarm at zero. The end time shows under the digits, and the timer keeps counting through a reload.

  • Set to 1 hour
  • Alarm rings in background tabs
  • Multiple timers
  • Six alarm sounds
  • Fullscreen focus mode

How to use this 1 hour timer

  1. 1The timer is already set to 1 hour. Press Start or the Space key to begin.
  2. 2Optional: name it (for example "Exam"), pick an alarm Sound, and turn on Repeat to run it again automatically.
  3. 3While it runs, use +1 min or the quick chips to adjust, and Focus mode for fullscreen digits.
  4. 4When the alarm rings, press Dismiss, or Snooze 5 min for more time.

What can you use a 1 hour timer for?

  • Practice exams. Sit a past paper or a timed section under real conditions, with the countdown in Focus mode.
  • Deep work. One protected hour on your most important task, with notifications off.
  • Bread dough. A first rise often takes about 1 to 2 hours, until the dough has roughly doubled; check it at the hour.
  • Parking. Start the timer as you walk away from a one-hour bay.
  • Workouts and classes. Many gym classes, long runs and practice sessions last an hour.
  • Screen-time limits. An hour of games or TV, ended by the alarm rather than an argument.

How do I make a one-hour work block count?

  1. Pick one task and name the timer after it.
  2. Remove distractions: close unrelated tabs, silence notifications and put your phone out of reach.
  3. Start the timer and work only on that task until it rings.
  4. Keep a scratch list for anything that pops into your head, and deal with it after the hour.
  5. Take a real break of 10 to 15 minutes before the next block.

If an hour is hard to sustain, split it into two 25 minute Pomodoros with a 5-minute break, or use the Pomodoro timer set to 50/10.

Tips for using a 1 hour timer

  • Add a 30-minute timer as a halfway checkpoint during exams.
  • Turn on desktop notifications so the alarm reaches you in any app.
  • For parking, note the end time shown under the digits.
  • Need longer? Type 1h 15m, or open the 90 minute timer.

How many seconds is 1 hour?

1 hour is 3,600 seconds, or 60 minutes.

With Repeat on, it starts again by itself each time it ends, so you get a reminder every round without touching anything.

Frequently asked questions

Yes for the time itself: it stores the exact finish time, so a throttled background tab cannot make it drift. On a computer the alarm is also scheduled on the audio clock at Start, so it rings on time; on phones, the browser may suspend the page in the background or when the screen locks, so keep the page open in front.
Yes. While the timer runs, the end time appears under the digits, for example Ends at 3:45 PM.
A first rise often takes about 1 to 2 hours at room temperature, until the dough has roughly doubled in size. Recipes and kitchen temperatures vary, so check the dough rather than relying on time alone.
