What are Notion widgets?
Notion pages can show live content from other websites through the embed block. A Notion widget is a small web page made for exactly that: a clock, a countdown or a progress bar that looks at home inside your page and keeps itself up to date.
Notion supports embeds from a long list of services, and any page that allows it can be embedded with a link (Notion's guide to embeds). Everything about a Playxoft widget, from the style to the time zone, is stored in its link. Paste the link once and the widget works for everyone who can see the page.
Not to be confused with Notion's own mobile widgets, which put a shortcut to a Notion page on your phone's home screen. The widgets here live inside your pages.
How do I add a widget to Notion?
- Press Copy embed link in the widget's builder.
- In Notion, type
/embedon an empty line and press Enter. - Paste the link and choose Embed link.
- Hover over the embed and drag the bars on its sides to resize it.
That is the whole setup. The same link works in Notion on the web, in the desktop app and in the mobile apps. Notion notes that embeds needing a login to another site do not work in its desktop and mobile apps; these widgets need no login, so they load everywhere.
On phones, Notion shows columns as a single column (Notion for mobile), so a widget you placed in a half-width column fills the screen width. Each widget measures its space and redraws to fit, so it still looks right.

Which style should I choose?
| Style | Looks like | Best on |
|---|---|---|
| Minimal | Clean type with no frame | Any page; it looks built in |
| Glass | A frosted, translucent card | Pages with a cover image or colorful sections |
| Neon | Glowing accent-colored type | Dark mode dashboards |
| Paper | A warm card with serif type | Journals, reading lists, cozy setups |
| Retro | An LCD screen with scanlines | Playful and gaming dashboards |
Theme Auto follows the page around the widget: Chrome, Edge and the Notion desktop app tell an embedded page whether Notion is in light or dark mode. Where a browser does not pass that on, Auto follows your device's setting, so choose Light or Dark to fix it. Background Transparent lets your Notion page show through; Solid gives the widget its own card.
Are these Notion widgets free and private?
Yes. They are free with no account, no trial and no limit on how many you make. The builder runs in your browser, and your settings are remembered on your device only.
- No tracking in the widget. The embeds set no cookies, use no analytics and make no network requests after loading.
- State stays on your device. The Pomodoro timer and the habit, counter, water and reading trackers remember their progress in your browser's storage for that widget only. It never leaves the device and does not sync between devices or people.
- The link is the widget. Labels and dates are part of the link, so anyone who can see your Notion page can read them. Keep secrets out of them.
- Fast and small. Each widget is a few small static files served from Cloudflare's network, with no frameworks and no web fonts.
- Optional credit. A small "Made with Playxoft" link sits in the corner. Turn it off in the builder, or add
credit=0to the link.
Like any embed, loading a widget means the viewer's browser asks our server for it, and Notion notes that the embedding service and the embedded site may receive viewers' IP addresses.
