Quick answer
A Notion reading tracker widget shows your reading progress inside a Notion page. Playxoft's free reading tracker counts finished books toward a yearly goal and tells you whether you are ahead of or behind schedule, or follows your page in the book you are reading now. Progress is saved in your browser. Choose a mode, copy the embed link and paste it into /embed in Notion.

Books this year or current book?
| Books this year | Current book | |
|---|---|---|
| Counts | Finished books | Your page |
| Shows | 12 / 24 books and your pace | Page 120 of 300, percent and pages to go |
| Buttons | + Book and minus | Forward and back by your step, or type the page |
| Starts over | On 1 January | When you change the book title |
Use Books this year for a reading challenge, the kind many readers set each January. Use Current book for a long novel, a textbook or a book club pick, where seeing the pages left keeps you going. Two trackers with different titles can sit side by side: the year's goal and the book in your hands.
How is the reading pace worked out?
The widget compares your count with an even pace through the year. A reader on schedule for a goal of 24 books would have finished 24 × 182 ÷ 365 ≈ 11.97 books by 1 July, the 182nd day of the year; the widget rounds that down to 11.
So with 13 books read on 1 July, it says 2 books ahead of schedule; with 10, 1 book behind schedule; with 11, On track. Once you reach the goal it says Goal reached! and keeps counting.
On 1 January the count starts again at zero for the new year. Last year's count stays saved in your browser.
A reading tracker and a Notion reading list
Notion is a popular home for reading lists: a database of books with properties for author, status, rating and notes, viewed as a gallery of covers or a board from "To read" to "Finished".
The widget does a different job: it is the progress bar at the top of that page. Press + Book when you move a book to "Finished", and your challenge stays visible without building formulas or charts. In Current book mode, type the page you stopped at before closing the page.
Where is my progress saved?
- This browser only. Your books and pages live in your browser's storage for the widget, on this device. Nothing is sent to a server, so there is no account, and it does not sync between your laptop and your phone.
- Yours alone. Everyone who opens the Notion page gets their own copy of the widget, starting empty. For a tracker a whole team shares, use a Notion database instead.
- The title names it. The widget saves under its Title, so two trackers on your pages need different titles to stay apart. A new style or color keeps your data.
- When it is not kept. Private windows and strict privacy settings can block storage in embeds; the widget then says so and works for that visit only. Clearing your browser's site data erases it, and Safari can clear it when playxoft.com has not been visited for a while.
